Everyone is allowed to sit back, relax and relish in a little (or a lot of) downtime, particularly once the semester ends, the grades are in and beaches and pool parties are in the foreseeable future. Here is a guide on how to have the laziest summer break.
1. Binge watch movies and TV
Turning on Netflix is a great way to unwind, as we all know far too well. Instead of focusing on deadlines, tap into another world and become immersed. You can focus on someone else’s struggles instead of your own.
2. Lounge in bed all day
Relaxing in bed for more than 4 hours after you wake up is a fantastic way to relax and have some downtime. You aren’t allowed to worry about anything but yourself. Besides, who doesn’t want to lie under your covers all day?
3. Enjoy the view
Go outside. Sit in a chair. Stare at the sky. People take their surroundings for granted sometimes, so look at the nature that surrounds you and relax.
4. Eat…as much as you want
Everyone loves food, there’s no denying it. Food solves any mood — we eat when we are sad, when we are bored, when we are actually hungry. Having a pig-out session after a stressful semester is well advised.
5. Chill with friends
Having friends come over to chat and chill is an awesome way to unwind. Catching up, making plans and discussing life in general are great ways to have a relaxing veg-out. There is nothing better than hanging out and reconnecting with your best friends.
6. Explore the wonderful world of music
Listening to music makes for an enjoyable, sometimes even educational, veg-out session. Listening to your favorite brand or artist brings out feelings of happiness and pleasure, so blast those speakers and sing your heart out.
7. Get someone (who really loves you) to give you a back massage
If you want to fully unwind and relax, a soothing massage can alleviate any stress that was left over from school. It requires no mental or physical work, so kick back and find someone who is willing to massage your worries away.
8. Get out and get a pedicure
Quickly becoming an activity for both men and women, a pedicure is a peaceful way to unwind. A pedicure offers cleanliness and a soothing foot rub in salts or heated water, depending on where you go. So sit back and soak your worries away.
9. Take a bubble bath
Following in the footsteps of the pedicure, a soothing, hot bath full of bubbles or bath salts is a prime way to unravel after a long day at work or a stressful semester of exams and projects. A hot tub is also applicable, and no soap is required.
10. Pack up for a road trip or even just a city trip
A car ride with the windows rolled down, the AC blasting and your tunes turned up is a great way to spend some downtime. Get out and explore your local surroundings when boredom rolls around. Or if you’re itching for adventure, packing up with friends for a new destination is also a fun way to bond and relax.
