Yep, the screams are currently filling theaters. For this weekend, moviegoers have two choices to drop the fear and grin ear-to-ear, and both feature protagonists who must harden their wills to reach the finish line.
Central Intelligence
Calvin (Kevin Hart), a meek accountant, used to be a star athlete in Central High. In the same place, Bob (Dwayne Johnson) was a prime target for bullies, but now he works for the CIA and looks curiously like Agent Hobbs from the Furious franchise. Since Calvin is the only person with the skill set Bob seeks, the two are whisked on a mission where trading bullets are the norm and the whole world is in jeopardy. This might not be a smart comedy from the director of “We’re the Millers,” but one has to admit that the tagline is pretty darn clever.
Finding Dory
The blue tang Dory, brought perfectly to life by Ellen DeGeneres, reveals to Marlin (Albert Brooks) and Nemo (Hayden Rolence, replacing now-grown Alexander Gould) that she has a family. She gets swept into the Marine Life Institute, where an array of ocean animals will hopefully get her swimming toward her loved ones. Take that, Sirius Black, as viewers who adored the first film have waited for this one year longer than you! As with Marvel films, the rule for Pixar productions is to arrive early to enjoy a short film that, with most certainty, is as gorgeous and meaningful as the main feature.
Security or family — two crucial causes are brought forward in two anticipated comedies. The question is: Which one do you choose?
