This weekend two weird films will grace moviegoers — a House of Cards star is transformed into a fluffy house cat and a band of villains starring as protagonists.
“Nine Lives”
After “Wild Wild West” and the “Men in Black” series, director Barry Sonnenfeld decides to up his wacky filmography game further. Billionaire Tom Brand (Kevin Spacey) loves work, so much so that his family, Lara (Jennifer Garner) and Rebecca (Malina Weissmann), has become a lower priority. On Rebecca’s 11th birthday, Tom buys an exotic cat named Mr. Fuzzypants and is then transformed into said cat. Hopefully, he will learn how to love his family again, or permanently stay in feline form.
For this film, think “The Shaggy Dog” and — because of Christopher Walken — “Click”. Walken, besides being an all-star actor, is also a certified cat whisperer.
“Suicide Squad”
Thank squad, the summer’s biggest event is finally here. Sometimes to beat the worst you need the worst, or in this case, the iconic misfits of the DC Universe including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez). The powerful Adversary is wreaking havoc in town, and intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) believes her newly formed group of villains can stop it. As long as the Joker (Jared Leto) doesn’t distract them, that is.
Check out this clip to see one of the members of the Suicide Squad (or is it?), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), and witness one of the coolest transformations ever put on screen.
Let us know what you will be seeing, and stay tuned for the next Reel Mood of the Week!
