It’s a new year and semester. And of course that means we have some new year resolutions, and a lot of them probably have to do with getting healthy despite classes starting up again.
Walking from class to class all over campus definitely can tire anyone out, and in the time between, it’s common to grab some quick snacks to sustain yourself until lunch or dinner. Vending machines all over campus contain your favorites chips, candies and drinks — and when you’re hungry but you don’t have time to grab lunch, there is nothing more amazing.
But all of that yummy stuff isn’t so great for your body. Sure it’s convenient, but as the day progresses, all those snacks start to take a negative toll on your body and you find yourself more lethargic than before.
So what is the alternative?
Some yummy snacks that taste amazing and are a much more healthier way to go instead of vending machines. Maybe you can wake up an extra hour early than usual to get that lunch or healthy snack together. And I think we all know as college students we will do what it takes to save money and time.
Fruit bowls are a great choice. This way you can put together a variety of your favorite fruits and snack on them during class. You’ll feel much better and more energized throughout your day and more focused.
Granola and protein bars are quite delicious as well. They come in a variety of flavors and yes, even chocolate.
Rice cakes and fruit chips are also great alternatives that will definitely get you that energy to keep you going throughout the day. Maybe carry a couple dozen in your backpack for when you need a quick bite.
These are just a few suggestions but they might help you when you need to decide what snack to get as an alternative. Here is to a healthy great spring 2018 semester. And you know what they say — a healthy diet leads to a healthy mind.
