This era of social media has taken over our lives quite literally – and we are loving it. There is not a moment in the day when my friends, family or myself are not checking our social media platforms. But when I’m eating food that just looks so aesthetically pleasing, or go to a cute coffee shop I have to take a picture for Instagram.
There is an art to taking great Instagram pictures. They even have panels where famous Instagrammers talk about how they make their photos so pretty and pleasing to the eye. It isn’t something that comes naturally to all.
So, first off what is most important is downloading an editing app. You usually have to edit a picture before posting the perfect Instagram photo. Lighting, shadows, and highlights, color enhancement, sharpness, clarity and many more. There are a lot of factors to consider and elements that probably need tweaking.
Next, choose wisely what you want to post. Your pictures say a million words. A lot of your identity can be expressed thru what you post. If you have a not-so-great photo, it probably won’t attract too much attention. That may or may not be your goal, truly depends on why you’re reading this article. All in all, make sure you have a decent subject to photograph. Even if you don’t, find a way to make it look good. Which takes me to our next step.
You must choose a good background. That means to arrange your background accordingly, find one that is perfect for your concept, etc. For example, if you’re taking a picture of a someone holding a book, mason jar, or something else of that matter, you want to choose a base that compliments your subject. So a nice plain wall that is appealing with it’s color or design, or just simply getting a unique angle of your subject can do the trick.
In a world where people take horrible Instagram pictures, be one of those who takes the best. Be brave enough to express yourself thru your posts, whether or not the picture is of you.
