The deadline for the Graduation application is nearly here!
March 31 is the last day to pay your graduation application fee (and includes a late fee). All students that expect to graduate this May must complete these requirements in order to graduate and attend the commencement ceremony. Students need to be aware of three main aspects of the graduation process.
First things first, before doing any kind of graduation applications or paying for your academic regalia, meet with your adviser and make sure that you are on track to graduate. This includes checking for outstanding dues, GPA and completing your degree plan. This step might seem a little tedious at this point, but better safe than sorry.
After meeting with your adviser, log onto your accessUH account, and on the main menu where all the icons are, select myUH. Once you’re there, select the advising section, and on the left side of the screen, there should be an option for Graduation Application. If you met with your advisor and all things went smoothly in terms of being on track for graduation as well as making all payments, you should be good to go.
Next, you should look into buying your academic regalia. The Bachelor Unit, which includes the cap, gown, and tassel comes down to $65 plus tax. The Master Unit is $87 plus tax and Honor Cords (only available for Bachelor candidates) are $14.50 plus tax. Once these are purchased, they are yours to keep so no need to return these to the bookstore.
When all of this is taken care of, you will be ready for the commencement. It’s no surprise that having a school this size would make the process challenging. Be sure to go to the University of Houston’s website and select the commencement section. There, you will see a list of dates specifying when and where you will go depending on your college. After all of this is completed, graduation will be that much closer!
