Homecoming Week 2021 is here, meaning there are fun events students can participate in leading up to the Saturday football game.

This years theme is “Back Where We Belong” in tribute to being back on campus after 2020 and early 2021 being largely online.

The events include some classic, tried and true activities like bed races and the Homecoming concert, while new events like the Great Inflatable Race and the Fall Carnival are also being introduced.

Monday

Kick off Pep Rally and Court Announcement with RHA
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Student Center Plaza

Meet the 2021 Homecoming Court and grab some free food. The football team, Spirit of Houston and Shasta and Sasha will all be here getting everyone hyped for the big game Saturday.

Tuesday

CANstruction co-sponsored with MVP
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Student Center Plaza

Come out and watch the Homecoming Spirit Teams build impressive sculptures using cans. Grab some food, vote for your favorite sculpture and listen to some music while you watch. At the end, the canned food is donated to the Houston Food Bank in collaboration with the Metropolitan Volunteer Program.

Strut Your Stuff
7 p.m. Student Center Houston Room

A talent show of sorts, Strut Your Stuff consists of skits and dances put on by student organizations around campus.

Wednesday

Tie Dye with Homecoming
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Student Center Plaza

Grab a free shirt and tie dye it with the Homecoming board. They will provide all the supplied and also have a pancake artist at the event.

Bed Races
7 p.m. to 10 p.m. TDECU Stadium, Gate 2 (Teams decorate beds starting at 4 p.m.)

Bed races is just what it sounds like, spirit teams racing old, wheeled beds down the street. Come spectate and grab some free food truck food.

Thursday

Great Inflatable Race
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Student Center North Lawn

Try to beat your friends in this inflatable obstacle and rock climbing race and grab some free food when you’re done.

SPB Homecoming Concert
7 p.m. Lynn Eusan Park

The Homecoming concert will feature an artist that is yet to be announced. We will update this when the artist is announced.

Friday

Rock the Campus with MVP
9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Student Center Plaza

Join the Metropolitan Volunteer Program and help clean up around campus. From weeding, picking up trash and other outdoor activities, volunteers will be rewarded with free pizza and a shirt.

Homecoming Carnival and Haunted House
7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Lynn Eusan Park

Get a full taste of fall during the Fall Carnival. The new event will feature classic carnival games, carnival foods and a haunted house.

Saturday

Homecoming Game v. ECU
TBA TDECU Stadium

A tradition that dates back to 1946, the Cougars will host ECU for the 76th Homecoming Game.
