The cowboy hat trend was a popular spring staple and continues this summer. Cowboy hats were all the rage on spring runways. Fashion influencers and celebrities have been seen wearing them plenty lately. 

Cowboy hats are commonly referenced in fashion.

Recently they have found a resurgence in pop culture.

Its popularity began last year with Pharell Williams’ 2024 Fall-Winter collection modernizing western wear and continued with Beyonce’s Carter album.

Continuing into 2025, other fashion brands have picked up the trend, and it is predicted to continue this summer. 

The 2025 cowboy hat trend does not replicate Western wear but brings a taste of Western feel to modern wear.

The beaded or braided, straw cowboy hats are especially essential for an eclectic feel this summer. It creates an aesthetic sure to be on everyone’s summer-to-wear list.

For everyday errands, summer hangouts or live events, you can pair these hats with maxi skirts. Chain belts and sandals may also complement the look.

The trend is also beach-appropriate and Instagram-worthy, as the hats pair perfectly with swimwear.

Classically, jeans pair perfectly with the trend too. You can take a page out of Sydney, Australia-based influencer and musical artist Lauren Wheatley’s book and rock fringe jeans with the cowboy hat. Otherwise, any style of denim or shorts is sure to be a match. In fact, this combo may be the look of the summer.

Pro Tip: Don’t forget to complete your summer looks with jewelry—the bulkier, the better.

Summer 2025 is a cowgirl summer.

With cowboy hats being worn with maxi skirts, jeans and swimwear, this summer will be an exploration of eclectic and bohemian fashion. Have fun with it and embody the modern cowgirl look while it trends.
