UH's lifestyle and entertainment magazine - by students, for students

As a UH student, you have access to a plethora of discounts ranging from big-name clothing brands like Nike to smaller local restaurants such as Tarka Indian Kitchen. Thanks to COOG$ave, this list continues to grow every year. Here we’ll go over some student discounts you shouldn’t miss out on throughout your years at the University.

Houston Zoo

UH students get a free admission ticket by showing their CougarCard, so make sure you don’t let it go to waste.

Visit our mascots Shasta VII and Louie, who were recently rescued last October!

You can take the METROrail from campus or carpool with a friend. The Houston Zoo also has a variety of other fun activities and animals to enjoy like feeding giraffes and an otter show.

Houston Museum of Natural Science

Students get to visit the Houston Museum of Natural Science for $16 with a general admission ticket. The ticket doesn’t cover special exhibitions or any other event within the museum. But, at certain times on Thursday, you can get in for free. The butterfly exhibit is something every student should go and visit.

Museum of Fine Arts Houston

The Museum of Fine Arts Houston requires you to show an art-related assignment and your college ID in order to get free admission, but if you don’t have any art assignments, you can get in for $12.

To add on, the museum is free to enter on Thursdays with free parking from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Come see all the amazing artwork!

Apple Music and Spotify

As all college students know, music is the only thing that gets us through finals.

Thanks to student discounts, Spotify Premium with Hulu is $5.99 while Apple Music is also $5.99. Personally, Spotify’s plan is a steal but for those who enjoy Apple more, the plan is there with Apple TV as an add-on.

AMC Theaters and Cinemark

Depending on your local theaters, you can get movie tickets at discounted rates for both AMC and Cinemark.

This is a perfect opportunity to hang out with your friends without breaking the bank. If you use the app, you can rack up points with their rewards program for even more discounts.

Moo.com

Now, this might seem out of place but Moo is the perfect place for a business card. Or for the K-Pop stans out there, it’s the perfect place for fanmade photo cards.

Students can get 15 percent off of their first order, so go get those trading freebies! The cards have almost the same if not better quality than official photocards with easy design software to use.

Half Price Books

Whether it be for textbooks or fun works of fiction, Half Price Books is a great place to visit for a college student.

When checking out, be sure to ask about the Educator Discount Card to receive 10 percent off of your purchases.

Firehouse Tacos

A big part of the college experience is looking for affordable food options, and who does not love tacos?

Show your Cougar Card at Firehouse Tacos to receive a discount on your purchase.
