Thanksgiving is around the corner, and this is the perfect time to show gratitude for all the little and not-so-little blessings in your life if you haven’t already.

In this article, you will see why gratitude is the best attitude to have and the different ways to express it.

Expressing gratitude is a way for people to reflect on all the blessings they have, whether it be things or people. And by reflecting, people come to realize the value of what they have. This often encourages people to be thankful for everything in their lives.

Being thankful allows people to be more optimistic and affectionate, and enables people to improve relationships with their loved ones. On the whole, it creates and celebrates a society where love and appreciation for each other are prevalent.

Oftentimes, daily routines can make it hard to remember what people have and they often forget to take a moment out to be thankful for it.

Whenever people desire something, they crave it until they obtain it. But the sad part is when they have it, they forget to appreciate it because by then, they’re busy chasing the next thing they want.

On the bad days, people focus so much on what they don’t have and complain about how unfair life can be. But being thankful is a habit that everyone should consciously try to develop so that it’s easier to look at the bright side of life even on cloudy days.

Here are some ways to express gratitude for everything and everyone you have in life.

List Making

We sometimes underestimate the amount of blessings we have in our lives. It’s a good idea to make a list and write down everything that you are thankful for, no matter how small it is.

To take it up a notch, write down why you are thankful for each thing you add to the list. I guarantee your list will be a long one.

Thank You Cards or ECards

If you enjoy doing arts and crafts, you can make cute and fun thank-you cards for your loved ones or anyone you’re thankful for, matching the card to the person’s personality or hobbies. By making something handmade, your commitment and efforts can be on display, without having to spend any money too.

If you don’t enjoy doing arts and crafts, however, you can even send eCards as a way to express your thankfulness. It definitely does save time and can be customized with a digital message and pictures. All you need is the recipient’s email address.

One free website to customize and send adorable eCards is linked here.

There are many different ways to say thank you to your loved ones. This Thanksgiving, go the extra mile and express your gratitude in a more unique way.

Here are some alternative ways to say thank you: “I appreciate everything you do for me,” “I value your presence in my life,” “Thank you for always being there for me,” “Your presence always makes me smile” and “You mean so much to me.” These are just some of the few ways to show people how much they matter to you.

Spending Time

If buying gifts and making cards is not your thing, you can simply spend time with the people or things you are thankful for. It is often said that time is the best gift we can give someone, especially in a fast-paced world like today. The only thing you have to do is take some time out by making that conscious effort.

And if you’re with the right people, you’ll crave more time and wish you could spend a few more hours with them. So, whenever you can, make the most out of the time that you have.

A Random Act of Kindness

If you’re thankful for the community you live in, whether it be residential or academic, try and volunteer for a cause that you’re ambitious about. This could be a great opportunity for you to give back to your community.

Try performing a random act of kindness for someone. There are many ways to do this, and they’re very simple yet meaningful.

Some examples include: smiling at someone you’re thankful for, paying for someone’s meal, donating your old clothes, toys or books to charity, buying something at a bake sale and holding the door for someone.

When you think about it, it’s the small things that matter the most.

Being thankful is an art, and like other forms of art, it can be expressed in many different ways. There is no set formula or rule book to abide by. The fact that you have the freedom to express gratitude the way you want is what makes this such a beautiful and easy practice.

If you were looking for a sign, consider this to be one, and take some time out to say thank you for everything and everyone you have in your life.

Just remember to have fun with it and to do whatever you do with a pure heart and good intentions.

Make gratitude the best attitude you have. And don’t wait for Thanksgiving to be thankful, instead make it a part of your daily lifestyle.

And also remember, it’s the thought that counts!

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate. May your Thanksgiving be full of happiness, good food and of course… lots and lots of gratitude.
