Rodeo is back! The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo proposes a month of Western culture and competition.
The first show was in 1932 with a total of 2,000 people. Now, it boasts over 2 million visitors.
It is one of the largest events in Houston. The mission is to promote agriculture, education, entertainment and Western heritage. It also brings millions of dollars in economic impact to the area, while also strengthening the surrounding community.
The concert lineup this year includes a wide range of country artists. It also features a sprinkle of pop from AJR and hip-hop with BunB. The Star Stage will be embracing new faces like Zach Top and returning favorites such as Reba McEntire, who will be making this year her 20th appearance.
The Livestock show will consist of Texas 4-H and FFA students. These students will be displaying their variety of livestock for a chance at the Houston Champion title. A rewarding auction follows.
The 2025 Rodeo portion of the month’s festivities will include staple events such as bull riding, barrel racing and team roping. Athletes and champions can expect a larger payout for event thanks to the Rodeo’s purse increase. It is now $2.5 million making this “the world’s richest rodeo”.
Musical moments and cattle wrangling aren’t all the Rodeo has to offer. There are many events and attractions around the venue to visit.
Special Day themes celebrating the armed forces, first responders, black heritage and more bring exciting discounts, entertainment and free admission depending on the theme. The drone show returns with 400 drones scheduled to light up the Houston skyline every Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m.
The carnival will also appear with its 130-foot Ferris wheel, surrounded by easy eats and games. A full list of events and attractions is available on the Rodeo Houston website.
In a historic shift, previous barrelman Leon Coffee will be swapping the arena for the stands to make way for John Harrison as he makes his debut as Rodeo Houston’s new barrelman. Along with this change in entertainers, Coffee will be inducted into the Rodeo Houston Hall of Fame on the first Sunday of the Rodeo, March 9.
Information for planning the perfect rodeo day is also available on the Rodeo Houston website, including schedules, ticket pricing, parking and guest services. For outfit tips, check out our 2025 Rodeo Fashion story.
Don’t miss out on one of Houston’s greatest events!
