Amid her Whirlwind World Tour, Lainey Wilson arrived on the iconic star stage Thursday, Mar. 19, giving an incredible performance to a sold-out show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at NRG stadium.

Wilson kicked off her concert singing her newly released single “Can’t Sit Still” to a fan-filled stadium.

Mothers, daughters, grandmothers, granddaughters and more were singing and dancing along to their favorite songs. Fans dressed in rodeo-style rocked denim dresses, maxi skirts, cowgirl boots and hats.

The Grammy award winner stunned in a beautiful western outfit perfect for the rodeo. Miss “Bell Bottom Country” rocked her staple bell bottoms with fringe on the ends. Fringe was the country diva’s outfit theme, including elbow-length fringe sleeves. Some unique pieces of her wardrobe include her bolo tie necklace and the belt buckle with her name on it.

It was a high-octane night filled with Wilson’s greatest hits including “Wildflowers and Wild Horses,” “4x4xU,” “Watermelon Moonshine,” “Hang Tight Honey” and “Good Horses.” The crowd’s favorites were “Watermelon Moonshine,” “Things a Man Oughta Know” and “Heart Like a Truck.” Throughout the night, fans were seen on the Jumbotron singing and dancing along to their favorite songs.

“One thing I know about Texas is you like to let your hair down,” Wilson tells the crowd, “well, that’s what we’re gonna do tonight.” Wilson’s statement is met with applause and screams from the crowd as she begins her song “Smell like Smoke.”

Thursday night was Wilson’s second time performing at the rodeo, her first time in 2024 seated almost 75,000 fans.

This year she solidified herself as a rodeo favorite, selling out in less than 30 minutes. Wilson addressed the last time she performed at the rodeo during her performance, stating that it “feels good” to be back in Texas.

Wilson has been compared to country legends including Dolly Parton and Reba McIntyre. Her performance combined her dynamic western style with a high-energy rock and roll attitude. Her sound and musicality is reminiscent of mid-2000s Carrie Underwood. One of the songs she performed, “Good Horses,” features successful country artist Miranda Lambert, who Underwood has collaborated with in the past.

Choosing the cowgirl of the night is a Wilson concert tradition.

For her rodeo performance, she chose a little girl in the crowd and proclaimed her the cowgirl of the night. The little girl, along with many audience members, was smiling from ear to ear. Wilson told the little girl to repeat after her, and led her in a motivational mantra, empowering the young girl and initiating her as cowgirl of the night.

“I am beautiful, I am smart, I am talented, I can do anything, I am fearless and I am cowgirl of the night,” says the young girl as Wilson gives her a cowgirl hat.

For the big finale, Wilson slowed down the night with her hit songs “Good Horses,” “Things A Man Oughta Know” and “Heart like a truck.” It was a bittersweet ending with a song Wilson fans love. Following her incredible performance, Wilson exited the arena in the most rodeo-style way: on a horse!
