It’s iPhone season again, and with another year comes another model. This year we have the iPhone 11, which was released on September 20th, 2019. This newer, slimmer model has three different variants: the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 11 is the least powerful of the trio, but aside from a few minor differences, all three phones are more or less the same. No matter which iPhone you choose, each one boasts better cameras, battery life, and water resistance than previous models. Here is a brief guide to help you pick out your new device.
Color
The new iPhones come in colors that have never been available before. The iPhone 11 comes in your choice of purple, yellow, green, black, white, and red. Of course, black and white are classic iPhone colors, but the others are more out of the ordinary. As for the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max; they both come in midnight green, silver, space gray, and gold. I have my eye on the midnight green.
Camera
The camera is often a selling point for many new smartphones, and the iPhone 11 is no exception. The device has ultra-wide and wide camera settings. It additionally has a dual system that shoots 4k video. The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max both have telephoto settings, in addition to the aforementioned settings. This gives the phone an extreme zoom-in capability. The iPhone Pro and Pro Max also use a triple camera system.
Battery
Battery life is critical to us smartphone users, especially students. We use our phones for everything from socializing to studying. With this said, the battery life of our phone can make or break our daily success. The iPhone 11 boasts the best battery life yet, with the ability to watch up to 17 hours of video within a single full charge. The iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max boasts up to 20 hours of video without needing a charge. This means that you could watch movies during an entire road trip from Houston to San Diego without needing to even charge your phone. Just be sure to be in the passenger seat.
Display
The iPhone 11 has a liquid retina HD 6.1” LCD display. This brightens your images throughout the entire screen. The iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max have a super retina XDR 5.8” or 6.5” OLED display. This display is the sharpest iPhone display thus far. It will give you a cinematic experience while watching YouTube videos.
Water Resistance
Previous iPhones have indeed been water-resistant, but the iPhone 11 takes it to a new level. The standard iPhone 11 is water-resistant for 2 meters deep, for up to 30 minutes. The iPhone 11 Pro/ Pro Max is water-resistant for 4 meters deep, for up to 30 minutes as well. So, feel free to film yourself swimming laps.
Materials
The iPhone 11 is made with an extremely sturdy glass on the front and back. Additionally, it has aerospace-grade aluminum. The 11 Pro and Pro Max have the same glass design, but are reinforced with a surgical-grade stainless steel finish.
Capacity
The iPhone 11 goes up to 256 GB in storage, with 64 GB and 128 GB options. This is plenty of room for whatever apps or videos that you desire to download. The iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max has 64 and 256 GB options as well, but also has a 512 GB option available. Space truly isn’t an issue with these models.
If the new iPhone has caught your eye and fits your needs, go to your phone company to discuss what your options are for purchase or upgrade. I will be on my way soon. Although, I should probably buy a textbook for my classes instead.
