UH's lifestyle and entertainment magazine - by students, for students

With the start of October comes the fall season, new TV shows airing and the Austin City Limits Music Festival held in Austin, Texas.

Since 2002, Zilker Park has hosted a variety of musical acts, food stands and other forms of entertainment. Austin City Limits Music Festival, also known as ACL Fest is held over two weekends. Cooglife will be covering Weekend Two of the events, but for those attending either weekend or both, here is what to expect.

Headliners for Austin City Limits 2023 include acts like Kendrick Lamar, Alanis Morissette, Hozier and a multitude of other big names.

For Friday, some acts to look out for include The Lumineers, Maggie Rogers, Lil Yachty, D4vd, Nessa Barrett, Ethel Cain and Half-Alive. Major Lazer will also be headlining during Weekend One.

For Saturday, the festivalgoers can catch Shania Twain on Weekend One and The 1975 on Weekend Two. Other acts to look forward to include Foo Fighters, Noah Kahan, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Mt. Joy, Rina Sawayama, Coi Leray and Declan Mckenna.

The last day, but certainly not least, is Sunday. Closing out the festival, make sure to catch performers such as Odesza, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Labrinth, Cigarettes After Sex, Niall Horan, M83, Suki Waterhouse, The Breeders, Morgan Wade, Del Water Gap and Becky Hill.

Aptly named the Austin City Limits Music Festival, there is more than just music offered on the festival grounds. There are different categories of food that will be offered at ACL Fest, including “ACL Eats” and “ACL Sweets,” which is new to the festival this year. Here, there will be a chance to eat local Texas foods and from some chains.

Another aspect of what will take place from Oct. 6 to Oct. 8 and Oct. 13 to Oct. 15 is the ACL Market. This will include 26 vendors such as American Drifter, Easy Street Prints, Honey Hill Market, Mana Culture, Root To Rise Plant Co. and Vinca, amongst others.

Other experiences hosted on the festival grounds include bars, photo opportunities and places to hang out in between concert sets in general. For the younger attendees, there is Austin Kiddie Limits which offers dance workshops and other activities. For the crowd over 21+, there is Lite Bar 75 for attendees to unwind and enjoy some yard games and a cold one.

New to Austin City Limits this year is the Barton Beach Club Tiki Bar, which will serve tropical-themed cocktails as well as Poke-Poke items. Then, there’s Bar None, which is a non-alcoholic mocktail bar located at the ACL Market.

Austin City Limits will be cashless this year thanks to American Express. Wristbands will help to make on-site purchases.

Can’t make it to the festival in person? Or, maybe you are going one weekend and want to see an act performing at a different time? Hulu has been deemed the designated streaming service to catch lineups of live performances and interviews during the festival.

For navigating the festival while you are there, be sure to look into transportation, allowed items, entry times and more here.

Be sure to stay tuned for Cooglife’s coverage of Austin City Limits Music Festival Weekend Two.
