Maisie Peters brought her The Good Witch tour to Houston last week and bewitched the crowd with her lyrics, instrumentals and stage presence.

Have you ever watched an artist just rock out on stage and remain in awe of them? Like you’re looking at a total rockstar and it’s awesome to be able to see them front row. That’s how I felt when I saw Peters at House of Blues last week.

The absolute rockstar energy she brought on stage electrified the whole crowd.

But before she started, her opener Grace Enger, enchanted the audience with just her guitar on stage. Enger played some of her popular hits like “The Cut” and “The Neighborhood.”

I was not familiar with Enger’s music prior to the concert but I did add her to my music library after I left the show.

After an hour of an acoustic set, Peters made an entrance with an intro to the album. She played the title track “The Good Witch” and then immediately dove into “Coming of Age” which energized the crowd. Singing the lyrics “Baby, I am the Iliad. Of course, you couldn’t read me,” was amazing.

Singing along to “Run” and “BSC” were probably some of my favorite experiences I have ever had. The energy in the crowd during the songs was on fire.

Peters’ “Wendy” and “You’re Just a Boy (and I’m Kinda the Man)” brought a pretty cool girl boss energy to the stage and the audience.

She sings a melody of “Two Weeks Ago,” “Worst of You” and “You Signed Up,” which flow seamlessly into each song. Peters even did a cover of “Night Changes” originally by One Direction.

As a directioner, hearing a One Direction song is amazing and Peters brought her own twist to it, which I loved.

Peters introduced her band before singing the song she wrote about them, “The Band and I.” I love it when singers are friends with their band. Their friendship was evident in the way they played together, which made the song even more special.

For a moment at the concert, I forgot that bands go away before they come back for the encore. I was disappointed that I did not get to hear my favorite song of Peter’s live. But, Peters did come back to sing two songs before actually leaving us for the night.

When I first heard the album “History of Man” was a standout for me and is one of my favorite songs ever. Hearing it live was a cathartic experience (if you were next to me at the concert, I’m sorry I yelled the lyrics so violently) and is a moment I will never forget.

Peters ended the set with the energetic song “Lost the Breakup.” The crowd was singing and dancing to end an amazing night of live music. Peters truly did win the breakup.

With big bold letters serving as a backdrop to the stage, Peters along with her band stunned during the show. The instrumentals, vocals and lyrics all shined bright that night.

Maisie Peters will be releasing the deluxe version of The Good Witch on Oct. 27.
