Last Concert Cafe in Houston hosted a three-act show featuring a variety of rock from Bipolar Joyride, The Hails and headliner Quarters of Change.

Bipolar Joyride

Local opener, Bipolar Joyride, entered with a warm welcome to the audience and performed tracks from their Debut EP “Hop On.”

The band’s vocalist Cullen Cauble sang while strumming an electric guitar with drum support and ad libs from Logan Allison. Their bassist, Josue grooved around the stage.

Notable performances included “Arrhythmia,” “Aint a Love Song” and “Song 2.” The set ended with a sneak peek of an unreleased track and a performance of “Bandwagon.” After, they took a selfie with the crowd and waved goodbye.

The Hails

The Hails came on stage greeted by roaring applause. They played “Sugar,’” “Situations” and “Sippin’ On The Daylight.”

Robbie Kingsley, the band’s lead vocalist, took a beat after their opening songs to introduce the members before jumping into “When You Were Bored” and “Fiona.” They asked if there were any Fiona’s in the crowd–commenting how they have yet to find one on their tour.

With no Fiona in sight, the band continued into a performance of “Caligula,” asking the crowd if they felt like dancing. The crowd screamed and jumped in response. Then, Franco Solari, guitarist and keys, took to the microphone to sing.

“Fake a Frown” came, then led into “Breathless” and “Empty Castles” with Andre Escobar and Dylan McCue trading off bass and guitar solos. The riff from “Empty Castles” transitioned into “Younger.”

The Hails asked the crowd if they were still with them, ending with “Stay” as Zach Levy showed off his drumming prowess in the final solo.

Quarters of Change

Quarters of Change exploded onto the scene from darkness in a flash of light beams with wailing guitars and moody vocals for “Depression II,” “What I Wanted” and “Tightrope.”

The band transitioned into “Blue Copper,” “Do or Die” and crowd favorite “T Love” as Ben Roter asked if they could jam out a little.

With the audiences’ permission, Jasper Harris and Ben Acker ping-ponged guitar riffs off of each other into “Keep my Blood.” The stage lights flashed red and white with the crowd cheering all the while.

With a performance of “Heaven Bound,” Ben Roter bragged of Attila Anrather’s drumming skills. Anrather responded with a killer drum solo breakdown. After, Anrather joined the band to perform “Turn it Away.”

The band teased how Dallas sang louder–raising a challenge to the Houston showgoers. The crowd booed Dallas and roared for the band. They went once more into “T Love,” featuring Jasper Harris and Ben Acker playing back to back.

Ben Roter then announced an intermission. The crowd chanted for an “encore” and “one more song,” as the lights went out.

Jasper Harris came back out for a solo performance of the guitar riff form “Rift,” eventually joined by the rest of the band.

The New York band played out the end of their set with “Kiwi,” transitioning fully into “Rift” in a flurry of drums from Atilla Anrather and with an enthusiastic pre-chorus from Ben Roter.

The guitars and drums crashed together as the band ended the show with a shout out and a good night bid to Houston, Texas.
