What a time to be a foodie—a rodeo foodie.

The Houston Rodeo boasts competitions, shows, rides, other fun activities and of course, the magnificent variety of food, serving up good ol’ southern cuisines.

Here’s a list of some of the reasons why the Houston Rodeo is a foodie’s dream.

Steak and BBQ

The savory aroma of smoked meats, fresh steaks and turkey legs serves as a nose guide for every rodeo foodie who seeks to revel in Texas-style meals.

At the rodeo, there is no shortage of rare-to-well-done steaks, chicken cuts, filly cheesesteaks and brisket, with several vendors selling only their freshest.

Mexican

No state does Mexican food better than Texas, and no city does it better than Houston.

Tamales, burritos, tacos, birria and so much more are all be available at the rodeo to sample.

Seafood

Other statement cuisines of the South present at the Rodeo include seafood and Cajun-style dishes.

American

Looking for a classic hamburger, corndog, crisp waffle, a pretzel or pizza on a stick, Texas-sized options of these are available.

Candy and Ice Cream

And what’s a rodeo without a little sweet, sugar?

The candies in the form of long sour tails, toffee and caramels, pecan candy and fudge are almost irresistible. Let’s not forget the stacked list of ice cream options too.

There’s nothing like a fresh-baked good, straight out of the oven.

Enjoy a nice pie, perhaps with a little fruit?

Funnel cakes, cheesecakes, pies, cobblers, other deep-fried treats and so much more are all available to choose from.

The aroma will lead you to the booths.

An endless escapade of drinks can also be found at the rodeo to wash it all down! There is something to fill everyone’s cup—fresh-squeezed lemonades, smoothies, sodas or yummy margaritas.
