Denzel Curry gave Houston concertgoers a 10-out-of-10 performance on Thursday night. Despite the small crowd during this stop of his Mischievous South tour, the Florida rapper came out and showed out for the culture.

At 8 p.m. CLIP opened the show to a half-full room at the Bayou Music Center.

Between the occasional banter and hyping the crowd to mosh, CLIP performed “#BU$$IN,” “P L U T O” and “yeahh (L’s).” She wrapped up her 15-minute set to a still half-full, but energized, room with her hit song “Sad B!tch.”

After, 454 took to the stage to continue priming the crowd for Curry.

With performances of “Mike Carroll,” “ICE AGE” and “STITCH + LILO,” 454 kept the energies in the room up. The crowd size, however, remained the same.

Following the agenda—keep the crowd energetic—Kenny Mason had the concertgoers rehearsing the mosh pit rules.

“Rule No. 1: If somebody falls, what do you do?” The spirited crowd responded and repeated, “Pick them up!”

After, Mason went on to list out the next two rules.

“Men have respect for the women,” he said. “And Rule No. 3: Have fun, twin.” The mosh pit energy peaked. Hands, heads and bodies all moved asynchronously, yet still in harmony.

Mason performed a mix of songs, including “Hit,” “DRACULA,” “BEEN HAVIN,” “US” and “HOODRAT.” He performed “Back Home” for those who had ever experienced loss and “PULP FICTION” for the Houston ladies.

The Georgia rapper, in awe of the energy in the room, said, “The tour just started, but this is definitely my favorite stop so far.” Wrapping up his set with, “SHELL,” his feature on JID and J Cole’s “Stick” and “Angel Eyes,” Mason said, “I’m going to try to come back to Houston as soon as I can.”

“Houston [blanking] Texas, I love y’all, twin. I love y’all so [blanking] much,” Mason said.

The crowd was pumped and thirsty—figuratively and literally. Before Curry hit the stage, the moshers were replenished with free cups of water.

Denzel Curry came out jumping. In fact, jumping might be an understatement; he ‘hit the floor’ ‘acting a damn fool!

The room went dark, and the name Denzel Curry lit up on the stage screen.

Curry sprinted onto the stage for a pumped-up entrance, flowing seamlessly from “ACT A DAMN FOOL” to “RICKY” and then right into “HIT THE FLOOR.”

The first order of business after this high-energy entrance was for fans to put their 3’s up. “Keep ’em up,” Curry said.

After, Curry had the crowd prepping their vocal cords—singing “ah ah ah ah,” ahead of his “Walkin” performance. “We gon’ sing this [song] together,” he said.

During Curry’s performance, the crowd grew in numbers, but only slightly. Despite the underwhelming Houston turnout, Curry had surprises in store for H Town.

Curry shared the stage for the culture. One minute it was Maxo Kream on stage rapping his “FETTI” verse. The next, it was That Mexican OT rapping with Curry their hit, “BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE.”

Before leaving the stage, That Mexican OT—in his shorts and slippers—said, “Oh my God, Denzel Curry.” He added, “H Town, real quick before I get off the stage, y’all make some noise for Denzel Curry!”

So willing to share the stage, even two Houston fans were invited to the stage towards the end of the show.

Aside from the Houston rappers and fans, Curry also brought back Kenny Mason to the stage for “SKED,” and 454 for “ANOTHA LATE NIGHT.”

After all the jumping and excitement, Curry paused. Complaining about the sweat in his eyes, he wiped them and then it was right back to vibing.

The goated, underground rapper took the crowd down memory lane. He taught concertgoers the lyrics to his cover of Lil Ugly Mane’s “Twistin’,” followed by a nostalgic performance of “ULT.” Curry jokingly called out a fan for being a nerd and knowing all the words to his songs.

Closing out the show with fan favorites, “STILL IN THE PAINT,” “Ultimate” and “CLOUT COBAIN | CLOUT CO13A1N,” Denzel Curry had fans leaving Bayou Music Center with big smiles and two thumbs up.

After nonstop moshing to Curry, one fan said, “It was fire!”

Curry’s performance was showstopping. It’s a shame the room wasn’t more occupied.
