On Thursday, Oct. 10, Houston’s House of Blues welcomed Cannibal Corpse and their unrelenting brutality to the stage. The night’s lineup, stacked with openers like Fulci, Full of Hell and Municipal Waste, made for an unforgettable show.
The evening built steadily. Each opening band fueled the growing energy. Municipal Waste’s set, in particular, fully ignited the room. When the mosh pits opened and crowd-surfing kicked up, security had to form a line across the barricade to catch the constant wave of fans spilling over.
Despite the chaos, however, the crowd’s morals were clear. They made sure to keep an eye on each other in the pit while still enjoying the vibes.
The pulsing red and white lights for Cannibal Corpses’ set gave the room a gritty and visceral glow. This matched the intensity onstage.
The band wasted no time getting into “Blood Blind,” following up with “Scourge of Iron,” one of their most streamed and recognizable tracks.
Between songs, George Fisher, known onstage as Corpsegrinder, kept the audience’s adrenaline surging. Fisher shouted, “Are you ready?!”
“Let’s go!” Corpsegrinder kept the anticipation and energy with the iconic introduction to their song “I Cum Blood.” He went on to taunt the crowd to keep up with his headbanging.
The night closed with Cannibal Corpses’ classic “Hammer Smashed Face.” The unmistakable fan favorite sent the venue into one final storm of movement. As the last notes thundered through the hall, fans cheered—exhausted but exhilarated.
It was a night of raw emotion and controlled madness. After all these years Cannibal Corpse still remains unmatched in the death metal scene.
