Disney’s Beauty and the Beast premiered at Houston’s Hobby Center on January 6th as part of the Memorial Hermann Broadway at the Hobby Center 2025-2026 Season.

Beauty and the Beast, based on the 1991 critically acclaimed animated feature film, follows Belle, a young woman who is taken prisoner by a cursed prince.

The musical debuted in 1994 at the Palace Theatre and is ranked as the 10th longest-running Broadway show in musical theatre history.

Beauty and the Beast at the Hobby Center uses lighting, costume design, and makeup to tell a beautiful story through the stage.

University of Houston alumna Kimberly Jackson states that “The costumes were beautiful, they did a great job of making each character stand out. It was really creative, like the steam coming out of Mrs.Pots tea spout.”

The show is ensemble-based, with supporting actors displaying a profound sense of harmony during each performance.

Scenes like “Be Our Guest” and “Gaston” put the actors’ talents on full display with exquisite dance sequences and stunts.

“The dance breaks were really well done, it was very entertaining to watch. I encourage everyone to go see the show if they can,” says Jackson.

Lead actors Kyra Belle Johnson and Fergie L. Philippe, playing Belle and the Beast, stole the show with their undeniable chemistry and vocal talents.

Beauty and the Beast at the Hobby Center brings a new and exhilarating feel to a timeless love story, perfect for an evening getaway or a family outing.
