Faye Webster Gave Houston "Better Distractions" on Friday Night

On Feb. 21, beloved musician Faye Webster performed at 713 Music Hall for her Underdressed at the Symphony tour.

The evening started with a soothing set by her opener Mei Ehara, setting a nice tone for the night. Ehara ended her performance with a duet with Faye Webster, leaving the audience wanting more and waiting eagerly for Webster’s performance which began around 9 p.m.

Webster began her set with a playful and iconic minion animation. The animation played on her large-scale T-shirt prop doubling as a projector screen. This whimsical introduction transitioned into her first song, “But Not Kiss,” setting the stage for a night of creativity and charm.

Throughout her performance, she played around with lights, animations and props, creating an immersive and interactive experience.

In her fourth song, “Right Side of My Neck,” Webster added to the atmosphere by releasing bubbles into the crowd. This was accompanied by a video of a washing machine on the projector. Together, these created a whimsical atmosphere as the crowd was showered in bubbles and yellow lighting.

Webster’s connection with the crowd was enjoyable. During “Better Distractions,” she took a second to greet Houston and even accepted a Minion plushie from a fan as she thanked everyone for their support. Her genuine interactions and heartfelt regards made the performance much more intimate.

To close the night, Webster introduced her band members while giving a final shoutout to Mei Ehara. Webster then performed her top streamed hit, “Kingston,” as the crowd sang along.

The show ended on a high note.

The performance was an interactive blend of music, visuals and storytelling. Through her use of animations, props and emotional instrumentals such as chimes and sweeping melodies, Faye Webster created an unforgettable experience. Altogether, it brought her music to life and told a story as she sang.
