Jelly Roll turned up the heat at Rodeo Houston on Wednesday, March 6, in what many are calling a must-see performance of the season. Marking his first-ever appearance at the legendary rodeo, the genre-bending artist delivered a high-octane set to a record-breaking crowd of nearly 74,000 fans.

The energy crackled from the opening notes as Jelly Roll launched into his hit “Halfway to Hell,” complete with awe-inspiring pyrotechnics that set the tone for the night. The crowd roared with approval, excited to witness the rapper-turned-country star on the iconic rotating stage.

Throughout the set, Jelly Roll’s emotions were palpable. After delivering a powerful rendition of the Alabama classic, “If You’re Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band),” he took a moment to soak in the electrifying atmosphere.

The excitement only intensified when Jelly Roll brought out a surprise guest – Texas native and country music superstar Cody Johnson. The duo treated the audience to a live performance of their collaborative track, “Whiskey Bent,” marking the first time the song had been performed live.

Jelly Roll further showcased his musical versatility with a unique medley of rap covers. He seamlessly weaved together iconic tracks like “Boyz-in-the-Hood,” “Lose Yourself,” “Ms. Jackson” and “Just a Friend,” proving his ability to captivate audiences across genres.

The anticipation for the closing song hung heavy in the air. Jelly Roll didn’t disappoint. He closed out the unforgettable night with a heartfelt rendition of his hit ballad, “Save Me,” leaving the audience with a powerful and emotional resonance long after the final chord.

By the end of the night, Jelly Roll had not only cemented his place as a major force in country music, but he delivered a performance for the ages at Rodeo Houston. The record-breaking crowd, the electrifying energy and the surprise guest appearance all combined to create a night that Rodeo attendees won’t soon forget.
