As college students, we are always creating something. Whether it be a presentation deck for a class or designing a promotional flyer for a student organization, there is so much digital content that comes to life. Clearly, having the right tools can make all the difference. That’s where Adobe comes in!
And who better to talk about these tools than our fellow Coogs? Adobe recently appointed a selected number of students to become Student Ambassadors at the University of Houston. These ambassadors are eager to share their favorite tools, tips and tricks on Adobe tools later on in the article.
All About Adobe and How it Benefits College Students
Adobe is a multi-utility platform offering a range of useful tools for students to transform their ideas into meaningful and engaging content. For each of your creative quests, there is probably an Adobe tool out there to help you.
One of the most commonly used and beneficial Adobe tools for college students is Adobe Express. Think of Adobe Express as your one-stop shop for all things creative. Whether you want to make a flyer, presentation, social media post, create videos, edit photos or generate your own designs, Adobe Express is the right place to be. It gives you access to thousands of free templates, backgrounds, design assets, stickers, photos, videos and generative AI prompts that you can customize. Like any platform, the more you experiment with different features, the more familiar you will become with the platform.

Which Adobe Tool is the right fit for you?
As established earlier, there are so many unique tools that Adobe offers. But with so many options, you are bound to get confused. Try asking yourself, “What do I want to create?” Here are some prompts that you can ask yourself and see if it applies to you:
“I have a photo that I want to post on social media, but want to edit it before I post.” Adobe Lightroom is the right tool for you. If you just want to make simple edits like adjusting the colors and the lighting of the photo or applying a preset, Adobe Lightroom is easy and less complex than Adobe’s other tools like Photoshop.
“I have many files that I want to combine into one document and also edit it if needed.” Adobe Acrobat is the right tool for you. If want to organize and edit many files into one single, Adobe Acrobat helps you accomplish this task. You can also convert them into different formats and e-sign the documents, which can come in handy.
“I really like this picture, but I need to remove some things and add in some other small touches.” Adobe Photoshop is the right tool for you. If you want to remove unwanted objects or retouch any element, Adobe Photoshop can do it all. It is more complex due to the advanced features, but it is something you can explore if it interests you.

“I want to enhance my presentation by using a suitable font, but I just can’t find one that I like.” Adobe Fonts is the right tool for you. Imagine having an Adobe tool that is solely dedicated to finding the right font for your digital content! You can describe the font that you are looking for, and see which results match your vision directly on Adobe Fonts.
Let’s Hear from our Adobe Student Ambassadors at UH
Now that we know what Adobe offers, let’s see what our student ambassadors have to say about Adobe, and why they advocate for the platform.
One feature that ambassador, Smarak Nanda, really vouches for on Adobe Express is the Remove Background tool. “It sounds simple, but I use it all the time when creating flyers, social media posts, presentations and other content,” he explains. “You can take a regular photo and remove the background in seconds without needing any advanced design skills.”
Justin Wei, another student ambassador, agrees with Smarak. He points out that the Remove Background tool is a premium feature on other platforms like Canva, which makes Adobe Express a useful tool for students as they won’t have to pay for it.
Another helpful Adobe Express feature that our ambassador, Mariah Castillo, enjoys using is the Brand Kit. The Brand Kit is a personalized feature that allows users to save their logo, brand colors and favorite fonts all in one place. “It makes everything really accessible to use! Having the logo, color palettes and typography on deck is so time effective,” she describes.
For digital creator and student ambassador, Faisal Khandhia, the Adobe Premiere tool stands out. He explains, “For me personally, I love using the Adobe Premiere tools, including the mobile one to easily create high quality content. It’s perfect to help with class projects and any other activities or clubs that might need video content as well!”
Our student ambassadors on campus are eager to keep learning and exploring more Adobe tools that can benefit students inside and outside the classroom. As ambassador, Vivan Shah, puts it, “I’m excited to learn more about the tools and explore how students can use them for classes, student organizations and creative projects. I think Adobe provides a great platform for bringing ideas to life and making content creation more accessible for students.”
