Joey Valence and Brae blew the roof off of the House of Blues Wednesday night at the Bronze Peacock for the NO HANDS tour. Support from opener Godly the Ruler brought a Death Grips inspired performance that meshed well with JVB’s Beastie Boys flow.

Godly the Ruler started off the night with their set of unpredictable tracks that had the packed venue jumping. “MERCURY” and “the world is big” introduced a mix of electronic dance music and rock before they split the crowd and commanded the audience to mosh as the bass heavy “30 days, 30 nights” blared through the speakers. The Chicago artist brought out a whistle during the commotion and threw a bundle into the crowd for them to follow along.

Between the moshing and raving, Godly the Ruler had the audience chant “Blood, Sweat, Tears!” to which they responded louder and louder with every repetition. Near the end of the set, tracks “ZION” and “D ROD” introduced more hip-hop as the audience head banged and waved to the beat. The concert goers thrashed, raved and bounced as Godly the Ruler thanked Houston for being the best send off to the Texas leg of the tour.

Joey Valence and Brae’s DJ came on and hyped the crowd up with music of today to introduce the duo, who ran on stage to immediately belt out back to back performances of “THE BADDEST,” “BUSSIT” and “DANCE NOW.”

The duo traded verses back and forth, with Joey bouncing around while Brae popped and locked. Their performance of “HOOLIGANG” led into “STARTAFIGHT” to which the artists ordered that the crowd start another mosh pit.

Fans began throwing stuffed animals, bracelets and other gifts on stage during performances of “LIKE A PUNK,” “OK” and “DOUGHBOY” with the artists thanking the crowd for their presents and even having them name the stuffed animal that was given to them; two audience members joined forces to name it “Michael Piggy.”

They then introduced the first song they ever made, “Crank It Up,” before asking the crowd to jump and sing along for “DROP!!” and “INTERMISSION 2,” followed by the title track of their recent summer album “NO HANDS.”

A fan hopped the barricade and dapped up Joey during “PACKAPUNCH” before he and Brae introduced an invisible guest for “JOHN CENA.” “WATCH YO STEP” played as the dynamic duo announced that the deluxe edition of the “NO HANDS” album was coming out Friday. They gave the audience a sneak peek with a cover of Charli XCX’s “365,” announcing the start of brat Fall as Joey Valence crowd surfed while singing.

“GUMDROP” and “Napalm” were performed with a seamless transition before Joey Valence and Brae reprised “THE BADDEST,” announcing that their fans were the funniest. They then closed out with the slower rhymes of “OMNITRIX” and left the stage before running back on with an electric encore performance of their breakout hit “PUNK TACTICS,” after which they then concluded the show with a bow, autographs and handshakes.
